Why We Can’t Retire

The latest episode of Patriot Act hits REALLY close to home. Hasan Minhaj explores how America's largest generation is growing older, yet retiring seems more difficult than ever before. He proceeds to dive into some of the EXACT areas that my comic will be exploring in the following months.

• The conundrum of Medicare not paying for assisted living but Medicaid only being available to people who are very low income.
• The neglect that can occur in care facilities, leading to our loved ones falling between the cracks of a broken system.
• The high price of in-home care, making it unaffordable for the majority of people.
• The expectations of immigrant parents who expect their kids to take care of them in their old age.

These bullet points describe my family’s experience, and constitute a venn diagram where our aging population often finds themselves stuck in the center.
