About

Hi, I'm Steve Wishman, the creator, author, and illustrator of How Mom Died, a webcomic/memoir chronicling the experiences I had while caring for my mom at the end of her life. The themes range from the realities of being a caregiver, strained relationships, the numbing yet brutal nightmares of dealing with bureaucracy at the end of life, and everything in between. My story is sometimes funny, sometimes sad, but always honest and vulnerable.

After Mom died, I became a caregiver for my father, in the early stages of dementia. I created Zen and the Art of Caregiving to continue continue sharing new comics and stories designed to highlight the shared experiences between all family caregivers. This page also serves a hub for caregiver resources and support solutions.
